You can plant and harvest a wide variety of crops in Farming Simulator 25, rice being one of them. This simulator has two types of rice: Rice and Long Grain Rice. The techniques used for planting and harvesting the two rice types may not be the same. In this guide we will go through how you can plant and harvest the two rice types in Farming Simulator.
Everything On Rice Farming In Farming Simulator 25
There are four parts to Rice Farming in the game:
- Preparing the field
- Planting Rice
- Harvesting Rice
- Storing and selling Rice
Each one has its own set of variables to consider and keep in mind when doing that part of the process. Let’s take each of these one by one and run you through how to perform them in the best possible manner.
If you have the seasonal calendar turned on, then you can only plant normal rice from April to May, and long grain rice in April. You cannot plant rice on a normal field.
Farming Simulator 25: How To Set And Prepare The Field
- Go to ‘Production’ menu > Cultivation -> Rice Field.
- This will let you create a rice field as you like. You will start of with a yellow colored marker. Drag the marker to create your desired rice field. Click on each boundary point to complete a boundary. We recommend you make your rice field on a flat land. Once you have created your rice field, the game will automatically place a water pump by the field.
- After you make your rice field, the next step is field preparation. To do this, go into your Map > Soil Composition. Check whether your soil requires liming, cultivation and plowing. If yes, then do it.
With this done, we are now ready to plant rice.
Farming Simulator 25: How To Plant Rice
Head over to the water pump by your field. Open the water pump menu and select ‘Flood‘, this will flood the entire rice field with water. Unlike normal rice you do not need to flood the field before hand for long grain rice. You can purchase rice sapling pallets and seeds from the market or grow them on your own in rice sapling greenhouses (for normal rice).
For planting normal rice you will need the ‘Iseki PRJ8D‘. You should use fertilizers, and you can purchase solid fertilizers from the market. Load your transplanter (Iseki PRJ8D) with rice pallets and drive around your field deploying rice (as shown above).
For long grain rice you will need seeders. If you have enough funds, we recommend you purchase the ‘ESPRO 6000 RC‘. This seeder does not need cultivation and plants the seeds directly inside the soil, or you can purchase the ‘Solid Stand 1500‘ for a seeder with inbuilt fertilization capabilities.
Once ready, perform the following steps to plant rice:
- Load up your seeder with seeds and fertilizers which you can purchase at the market.
- Drive onto your field and trigger the button for planting the seeds onto you field, or hire an AI worker to do it for you.
- Keep visiting your water pump to check whether the field requires water. If yes, you have to flood the field else your crop will not grow.
- Rice crops need only a single fertilizer state.
- You can view your fields with rice on your map.
Once the rice has been planted and given time, we can now move on to harvesting it.
Farming Simulator 25: Harvesting Rice
You can harvest normal rice only in August and September, and only in September for long grain rice, long rain rice needs an additional month to grow. If you do not harvest within those months your rice will wither. To check and confirm which rice fields are ready for harvesting, open your map and go into ‘Growth‘, and look for fields colored in dark orange.
For normal rice use the ‘ISEKI HJ6130‘ to harvest it. Drive up to your field and do it manually or you can hire an AI worker. For long-grain rice you can use whichever harvester you like from the ‘Harvesters’ category. You will have to attach a ‘Grain Header’ to your harvester. Similar to normal rice you drive up to your field and harvest the long-grain rice manually or you can hire an AI worker.
Farming Simulator 25: Storing and Selling Rice
- After you harvest your rice you can use a truck or any trailers to transport your rice. You can either immediately sell the raw rice at the market, or store them at ‘Grain Silos‘ and wait for a month to sell at a better price. You can also use your rice to produce items like rice flour (if you own a production plant) and many other consumable products.
