How To Level Up Your Mining Skill Mastery Fast in New World: Aeternum
You can level up Mining quickly in New World: Aeternum by investing points in the Strength attribute, equipping gear that has mining-specific boosts, upgrading your pick-axe, using proficiency boosters and choosing the Gathering Speed Bonus. Some of these have a direct impact on leveling up the mining skill, and some have an indirect impact by making the process of mining quicker and more efficient. Let’s look at a few of these in detail.
Leveling Up The Strength Attribute In New World: Aeternum
Your Mining Trade Skill in New World is dependent and tied to your Strength attribute in-game. We suggest that you invest most of your level-up points in the Strength attribute if you’re looking to farm and level up your Mining Skill faster.
Once you start investing more and more points in the strength attribute, you will notice that various perks and buffs have been unlocked related to your gathering skill which will immensely increase your mining speeds, increase your encumbrance(carrying capacity) and increase your drop chances to find rare items.
Here is a list of perks and buffs you can unlock for your Mining Trade Skill:

- 50 points – +25 Encumbrance
- 100 points – +50 Encumbrance

Tip: Travelling from one node to the other can become very time-consuming so we suggest that you equip a mount with the stamina reduction charm and level up your Mount skill to farm faster.
Upgrading Your Pickaxe
When you start the game initially, you will mostly be using a Flint Mining Pick. You need to get one of these yourselves(buy it from the Trading Post) and upgrade it to an Iron Pickaxe.
Now as you keep mining and levelling up your Mining Skill do not forget to upgrade your pickaxe from tier to tier. This will greatly increase your farming speeds. You can also buy higher tier pickaxes from the Trading Post if they are available or craft it yourself at the Workshop in your settlement.
Equipping Mining Clothes Set And Gear
Once you equip a set of Miner Clothes(Miner’s Goggles/Hat, Miner’s Gloves, Miner’s Shirt, Miner’s Pants and Miner’s Shoes) it will immensely increase the drop chances of rare items while gathering and your Mining Skill will level up faster as well due to higher mining speeds.
Equipping Items with Mining Perks
You can equip mining perks to your mining gear(Miner’s Clothes set and Pickaxe). The perks of Prospector’s Discipline(3% more EXP) and Mining Yield(10% more resources gathered) can prove to be very effective and increase your farming speeds immensely.
You can also equip your Bag with Mining buffs like Prospector’s Burden and Miner’s Luck. Prospector’s Burden will decrease the weight of all the mined resources and tools and Miner’s Luck will increase the drop chances for you to find rare items while mining.
Choosing The Gathering Speed Bonus
In New World, the faction you belong to has a certain level of Territory Standing. Once the Territory Standing levels up, you can choose a Territory Standing Bonus. You can pick the Gathering Speed Bonus here to increase your mining speed in that particular region.
Using Proficiency Boosters
Proficiency Boosters will provide you with certain buffs that help you gather resources quickly. It will increase the yield when you’re mining after consuming these boosters.
Best Locations To Level Up Mining As Per Your Mining Skill Level
Level 0 – Level 100
Monarch’s Bluff and the area north near Devil’s Quarry are your best bets as they have an abundance of Iron, Silver, Gold, Starmetal and even Alchemy Stones to gain more Mastery Points. This location has a prime advantage as the Nodes here have a very fast spawn rate making it ideal for you to level up your Mining Trade Skill fast to reach Level 100.
Level 100 – Level 125
Once you hit level 100, you should hit Windsward area and it’s nearby coast, Pirate Cove, Amrine Temple North. You can find loads of Platinum and Star Metal nodes here. If you want to speed up your Mining Skill level up even faster then you can travel to the Great Cleave, to the North of Brightwood, you will find quite a few Starmetal nodes in close vicinity to each other. If you traverse the Braided Hills route then you can find another 12 to 15 Starmetal Nodes here which can help you level up efficiently, from here if you travel northeast towards the Hollowing then you can usually find 10 more Starmetal Nodes here.
Level 125 – Level 150
You can travel towards the Reekwater and then traverse west, in between Edge Flow and Sharptooth Pass, you can usually find upto 25 Platinum Nodes here. If you then travel to Edengrove, head towards the centre of the in-game map, you will notice a triangle formed by the Genesis of Malevolence, Spite and Malice on your map. You can find several Platinum Nodes here. If you can farm this loop twice then you can easily reach level 150 at least.
Level 150 – Level 205
This is where it can get really tough as you need to time your farming loops perfectly with the refresh rates of ores like Orichalcum which has one of the longest respawn rates in the game. The small veins can take anywhere between 17 to 24 minutes to refresh, the medium-sized veins upto 30 minutes and the large-sized veins upto 24 to 34 minutes. You can traverse the path southwest of Ebonscale Reach near the Dynasty Landing area and look for Nodes on the island. You will find upto 20 nodes here usually. There are 3 soft caps in the Mining Skill tree:
- The first is between Tier 2 and Tier 3(around level 35)
- The second falls in between Tier 3 and Tier 4(around level 100-110)
- The third cap falls in between Tier 4 and Tier 5(around level 130-150)
Surpassing these caps can get really tricky but not impossible if you follow the right farming strategies.
Mining levels and tracking levels are unlocked separately most of the time. The Mining Skill tree is such that the players gain the ability to mine a resource first then as a secondary unlock they get the tracking skill. Until you can unlock the tracking skill for the resource that you need, you must keep your eyes peeled on the compass minimap to detect nodes faster.
There are two separate branches for mining resources: one for collecting ore for smelting and the second for collecting stone for stonecutting. Both of these branches are part of the same Mining Trade Skill tree and you can farm both types of resources in order to level up their Mining Skill faster.
